TEHRAN, July 20, YJC - A ranking Iranian commander warned against Washington’s double-standard policies toward terrorism and its attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of Syria and Iraq, saying no one has the right to decide for the Arab nations.

Iranian commander: No one should decide for Syrians, IraqisTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - “The US behavior in Iraq and Syria is a perfect example of contradictions and blatant deception because it (the US) supports terrorists on the one hand and forms anti-terrorism coalitions on the other,” Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said on Wednesday.

“Any agreement with the deceitful government of the US is unacceptable…,” he said.
No one has the right to decide for the legitimate governments of Iraq and Syria, the Iranian commander added.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.

In the meantime, Iran has remained a close ally of Syria and supports its legitimate government in the face of foreign-backed militancy.

Iraq has also been plagued with terrorism over the past years. Earlier this month, Iraq declared the complete liberation of the city of Mosul some three years after the northern city fell to Daesh terrorists.
