2nd Gouharshad International Prize Festival in Mashhad

TEHRAN, July 30, YJC - The 2nd round of Gouharshad International Prize (in honor of cultured and charitable women) will be held in Mashhad, Iran.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Iranian Secretary of Gouharshad International Prize Ali Sorurri Majd accompanied by Mahmoud Vaezi, a member of the scientific council of the event, today attended a press conference in YJC to elaborate on the event.

Noting that it is the second round of the event, Sorurri Majd said that the prize goes to 8 cultured and charitable ladies (4 of them Iranian and the other 4 non-Iranian) with 17 judges from Iran and other countries examined the works sent to the secretariat.

Sorurri Majd said that Goharshad policy-making council 8 pivots of the beneficence prized has been defined.They included Sacrifice and Martyrdom, Resistance and Islamic Awakening, significantly admirable actions in science, education, and research areas, efforts in cultural, artistic, and media areas, Waqf and charity, construction affairs such as building schools and hospitals, medical affairs, and management and entrepreneurship.

“It doesn’t mean that we have found all of charitable ladies over this year and last year and such numerous are charitable [ladies] who are unknown” he remarked.

“each charitable person we cultivate is expected to cultivate successors and try to bring up 10 more charitable ones beside herself”, Sorurri Majd said asserting that developing the culture of Islamic charity can challenge the West.

Vaezi also put emphasis on the international aspect of the prize which have been defined along with other world prizes such as Nobel prize.

He said that one of the challenges the festival is coping with is finding these women. He added that the prize is not specific to Shiia women but to the woman of all religions.

The 2nd “Goharshad International Prize” festival will be held on 2 August in Razavi Shrine’s Quds Hall. There, in the festival 8 cultured and charitable ladies- 4 Iranian ladies as well as 4 ladies from Nigeria, Kuwait, Iraq, and Russia- will be honored and awarded.
