Tehran, YJC. Gas consumption has jumped 15 pct to reach 75 liters per day to make the Oil Ministry express worries over the condition.
CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company said in an interview with Mehr News Agency that while since the New Year Iranians have used 67 million liters gas per day, the number has jumped to 75 million in the first week of summer.
Alireza Zeiqami said that compared to the same period last year, gas consumption has increased 15 percent in the first five days of this summer.
"The increase in summer trips before Ramadan is the reason for this increase,” he added.
The authority said that the country’s consumption rate has varied in the years 2010-12 from 60 to 65 million liters per day, indicating an unexpected increase in the current year.
