TEHRAN, October 30 - Young Iranian karate practitioners collected two gold, two silver and six bronze medals to land fifth overall at 2017 World Junior, Cadet and U21 Championships.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - As of October 25, Spain was playing host to the international karate tournament which had attracted 1710 karateka from 109 nations across the globe.

The Iranian squad finished in the fifth place overall for having bagged two golds, two silvers and six bronzes.

Japan won the title with 10 gold, one silver and seven bronze trophies while Egypt collected five gold, three silver and seven bronze medals to stand on the second podium. Meanwhile, Turkey landed third after snatching three golds, three silvers and five bronzes. The fourth position was occupied by host Spain.

Persian athletes who finished fifth were followed by national teams from Italy, France, Kazakhstan, Denmark, Montenegro and Saudi Arabia.

For Iran, Borbod Sedaghat and Avishan Bagheri clinched gold medals while Majid Nikuhemmat and Sarah Bahmanyar settled for silver.

The 10th edition of World Cadet, Junior and Sub21 Championships kicked off on October 25 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife of Spain and came to an end on October 25.
