Iranian films to be showcased in Malaysian fest

TEHRAN, November 4 -Two Iranian movies ‘Daughter’ and ‘Sound and Fury’ are going to be screened in the 13th Malaysian Profima Film Festival.

Iranian films to be showcased in Malaysian festTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - ‘Daughter’ has been nominated for six awards in Best Supporting Actress, Best Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Film, Best Film Editing and Acting New Talent sections.

‘Sound and Fury’ has six chances of awards in the event.

The festival is scheduled for November 4-6.

‘The Daughter’ narrates the life of Mr. Azizi who leads an uneventful family life in an oil town of southern Iran. One day, his daughter Setareh, much exasperated by her father's authoritarianism, announces she is off to Tehran which is met with his father’s objections as the engagement celebrations of Setareh's younger sister are taking place simultaneously. This act of disobedience sets in motion a series of perturbations that upset the calm tranquility of the paterfamilias.

‘Sound and Fury’ by Iranian filmmaker Houman Seyedi depicts the life of Khosro, a pop singer, who lives a hectic life with his wife Tina and his son. His life is further complicated when he becomes involved with a female fan. A terrible event then forces each to recount their side of the story in the pursuit of the truth.
