Tehran, YJC. Analyst says that Rouhani’s policy of détente is likely to reduce international sanctions.

Pointing to the Iran-West talks, Davoud Hermidas Bavan said in an interview with Mehr "If the two sides progress with a sense of optimism, the sanctions against Iran will fade out gradually.”

He asserted that the removal of sanctions will depend on the attitude that Rouhani will adopt as the President of Iran and said "The quality of talks that are going to be made and pursuing the issue within moderation and constructive dialogues can help the case.”

Bavand added "To reach a desirable outcome the two sides must moderate their positions. In that case the chances for the two sides to be content will rise.”

Hermidas Bavand believed that with an open atmosphere, cooperation between Iran and the IAEA will help Iran-Six Powers talks to yield more result.

He pointed to the two kinds of sanctions currently addressing Iran, the Security Council sanctions and those of the US, and added "As is indicated in the text of the Security Council sanctions, if the requirements of the resolution are met, the sanctions will be lifted.”

He then stated that lifting the US sanctions will be much harder, saying "Even if these sanctions are lifted, since for these sanctions some countries that used to by Iranian oil have made contracts with other countries such as Saudi Arabia, reducing the effects of the sanctions will take time.”
