Former Oil Minister: Iranian pipelines must reach the heart of Europe

Tehran, YJC. Former Iranian Oil Minister has emphasized the need for Iran to make its gas reach deep into Europe.
Regarding gas and oil as cards that Iran can use in negotiations with the West, Qolamhosein Nozari asserted that the Oil Ministry's top priority must be to boost the production of gas, adding "Iran's exporting gas pipelines must go to neighbor and even European countries."

Speaking in an interview with Mehr, Nozari added "Regarding the tightened sancitons and foreign restrictionsit is needed that new priorities be laid for development especially in upper levels of the oil and gas industries."

He asserted that the to-be oil minister needs to give extra-special attention to enhancing the production of natural gas and said "Oil and gas are a cedisive factor in international interactions and diplomacy of Iran."

"Right now Russia plays a big role in political and economic policy makings of the EU through extensive gas export to Europe," he maintained.

Nozari said that as a way to neutralize the sanctions, the 10th administration Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi has worked arout clock and tried a lot of new ways.

He believed that many of the sancitons could be revoked by using dexterous lawyers.

Providing comments on the export of Iranian gas to Persian Gulf countries, especially the UAE, he maintained "The UAE intends to use Iranian gas to fuel its power plants. The highest level of UAE demand for the Iranian gas is in the summer when hold extra gas." 

Emphasizing the status of gas as a main factor for furthering international negotiations, he added "In case of increasing the production rate, export to neighbor countries and European countries must be prioritized."
