Tehran, YJC. This year South Korea has caught up with China to become Iran’s number one gas importer.

Mehr News Agency reports that in the current year, Iran has been able to make up for some of its reduction in gas export by selling gas to South Korea, making the country its number one consumer of gas.

With the expansion projects for gas refineries, there has been created an extra capacity to produce 1,500 tons of gas, whereby Iran has been able to make up for part of its oil export reduction.

Currently China and South Korea are the biggest customers for the Iranian gas, while the latter has been able in the current year to leave the former behind.

Iran’s export of gas to South Korea resumed on March after a long pause. So far the country has become the biggest importer of Iranian gas. International reports maintain that in the first half of September, South Korea has importer a 44,000-ton shipment of gas from Iran.

The transfer of LPG to China is also likely to continue to the end of the current year.

In 2013, Iran has not only revived its contracts with a number of Japanese refineries, it has also made deals with refineries from Turkey.
