The Iranian men’s volleyball team beat USA on Saturday in Tokyo in this year’s Grand Champions Cup in the home round.
In a tight, five-set match, Iran defeated the USA 3 to 2 in this year’s Grand Champions Cup in Tokyo.
The first set was over 28-26 for Iran, which had to lose the two next 19 to 25, gaining the upper hand once more in the fourth and fifth sets where it beat the rival 27 to 25 and 18 to 16 to become the winner of the game.
Iran’s coach Julio Velasco speaking to reporters after the match said "The games against Brazil and the US were much difficult. I usually give my players examples from these two teams. Today our players proved that they believed in themselves. This was a very important victory for Iran.”
"We defended well and did better in counterattacks in the fourth set. The bench also appeared with high morale which was why we won the game,” he asserted.
