Tehran, YJC. Four years into expert negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program, the country’s negotiators left the talks because a new set of sanctions by the US targeted the country’s economy anew.
Iran and Six Powers nuclear expert talks had began last Monday in Vienna while the senior Iranian negotiator Abbas Araqchi had said that by the end of the talks, the two sides had to take their first step in enacting the cooperation agreed in a previous meeting in Geneva.
Reuters reported last night that the US has added a number of companies and people to its list of entities under sanctions.
Finding out about the new sanctions while in Vienna in the middle of the talks, the Iranian team decided to discontinue the negotiations in a show of disapproval.
Abbas Araqchi said "In the past few days after the Geneva negotiations the US has acted in confusion and has not been able to decide and make well-defined policies, especially since at the Congress they would try to stop further sanctions while on the other side they added new companies to the list of companies under sanctions.”
"Such a devious playing and confusion does not favor the atmosphere of the negotiations and goes against the Geneva agreement,” he further said.
