Tehran, YJC. Rouhani has said during the past few years there were those in the country who pretended to be circumventing Western sanctions while they actually “circumvented national interests.”

President Hassan Rouhani who was speaking to a number of officials from Yazd province on Saturday expressed pity that Western sanctions turned into alibi for some to make money.

"Some would claim that they were able to circumvent the sanctions and annul their consequences, but in practice, they circumvented national interests, so much so that right now reimbursing people has turned into a challenge,” the president stated, the presidential website reports.

He added "The people of Iran have withstood the sanctions for their ideals and they will continue to do so. It is our duty to lay grounds for reducing internal and external problems through planning and reason; and to contribute to the development of the country and to contradict the unjust pressure caused by sanctions so that we will see a better future for the country.”
