Tehran, YJC. Rear Admiral Sayyari says the Persian Gulf belongs to Iran.

Iran’s Naval Commander Rear Admiral Abdolhamid Sayyari who was speaking at a meeting with students in Shiraz on the occasion of the Persian Gulf day on Wednesday said "The Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman are the world’s throat which we hold in our hands.”

"The Persian Gulf has been the Persian Gulf since millions of years ago and it will remain so. This Persian in the Achaemenid days was known as the sea that came from Persia. The Persian Gulf is our big pride. Whoever that intends to use another term will receive our punch in their mouth.”

Sayyari stated "We must work toward increasing the number of ports in the Gulf of Oman, because the Gulf of Oman and Persian Gulf are the world’s energy reservoir.”
"The marine fleet of the Islamic Republic of Iran being present in the Gulf of Aden has brought on some significant security. In the past few years it has let 2400 freight ships and tankers through the area safely,” Rear Admiral Sayyari further asserted.
