Russian President Vladimir Putin hopes that his forthcoming visit to China will give an impetus to strengthening cooperation between Russia and the People's Republic of China (PRC) in all
"I am looking forward to a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with whom I have developed a good working relationship and kind personal relations," Putin told China's leading media ahead of the visit.
A Kremlin official announced earlier that Vladimir Putin would visit the PRC from May 20 to 21 for talks with President Xi Jinping of the PRC and for participation in the 4th summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia in Shanghai.
"We shall review the implementation of the earlier reached accords and determine new tasks for the future," the Russian President said.
He is "confident that the forthcoming talks will give a powerful impetus to a further strengthening of bilateral cooperation in all fields and to deepening coordination in the international arena".
Putin said the results of the Summit and plans for the future would be reflected in a Joint Statement of the Heads of State and in a sizeable package of documents which are due to be signed during the visit.
Russia's President said he is always glad to visit hospitable China. "It is pleasant to see how our neighbour gets transformed literally under one's own eyes" and "Shanghai is a vivid reaffirmation of that," Putin remarked.
The Head of State recalled that to broaden contacts with the PRC is Russia's absolute foreign-policy priority. "Russia-China cooperation is currently reaching out to a new stage of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction. I shall not make a mistake to say that it (cooperation) is now the best over its entire centuries-long history," the Russian President said.
