Tehran, YJC. Larijani has asked for Iraq to hand over MEK members to Iran to “solve some of the problems of the citizens of both countries.”

Iran’s head of Judiciary branch who was speaking after meeting his Iraqi counterpart in Tehran asked that the Iraqi government surrender to Iran members of the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (MEK).

Providing comments on the Iraq head of judiciary’s trip Sadeq Amoli Larijani stated "The core of this trip is to strengthen ties between the two brother countries of Iran and Iraq. We have signed 4 contracts with Iraq on surrendering criminals which have passed the legislative processes in both countries.”

"Now is the time to put these contracts in action. The actualization of these agreements will solve some problems for citizens in both countries,” he stated.

Larijani further maintained "We expect that the MEK members who are in Iraq, and according to their own selves have assassinated the country’s elite along with 17 thousand martyrs, would be handed over to Iran as the criminal exchange agreement emphasizes,” adding "People also expect the criminals to be surrendered and put to trial.”

Meanwhile the Iraqi side has announced that it will consider the case of the MEK members in cooperation with the United Nations.
