Tehran, YJC. Newly convert Canadian lady says feminism is a tool created by the West by which to mislead women.

Jannah al-Heydari is a Canadian lady who has recently converted to Islam. She lives in Ontario with her husband and little kid.

Jannah illustrates children’s books. Her last book is a children’s story about the Islamic dress code, hijab. She has finished the story and just started the illustration.

Speaking about the concept of feminism with Mehr News Agency, she said "Feminism is but a tool to mislead women, created by the Western ideology. Western society want the woman to first show of her appearance than her personality; then all behave in that way in order to be welcomed to society. These are beliefs that feminism inculcates to women, misleading them in fact.”

"I’ve lived only in Canada. My family would not be easy with hijab. On the other side I wasn’t acquainted with the concept either. The influence of the media was not something to be overlooked. But as I converted to Islam I had to observe the dressing code,” she continued.

Jannah’s husband is an Iraqi Shiite who has lived in Qom, Iran for a while.

She then added "I read a lot about the prophet of Islam. Of what I read his behavior toward his wife Khadijah tells me of the different view Islam holds regarding human relations. As I knew more and more of the Prophet and his sublime behavior, I could relate to Islam more and more. The reward of Islam to me was that I no longer felt competitive toward other women.”
