Tehran, YJC. Iran’s Human Rights chief says the special UN rapporteur’s are baseless claims.
Secretary of Iran’s Human Rights Staff Mohammad Javad Larijani
said that Iran has invited the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to the
country.
He pointed to the UN special rapporteur Ahmed Shaheed’s
reports on the state of human rights in Iran and said "Ahmeda Shaheed compiles
his reports based on websites that act in opposition to the state. He has no
proof for his allegations.”
He added "Ahmed Shaheed is the fourth Human Rights
rapporteur on Iran and seems not to be the last one. The way he goes about his
business there is lots of problem about it. In his reports, Ahmed Shaheed
points to people who have no proof for their sayings.”
Larijani further said "The reports issued on Iran are
offensive. Whenever they decide to do something against the Islamic Republic of
Iran they bring up human rights. Human rights is no new issue. Our nation has
been acquainted with such an intrusion for years. Every now and then the
enemies spin this wheel under a new set of alibis.”
"We got no problem
with Ahmed Shaheed. Our problem is with the way he behaves and the way he
ignores the basics of reporting. The Islamic Republic maintains that
rapporteurship is a very decent job and that the rapporteur must observe legal
norms,” Iran’s head of Human Rights Staff asserted.
