Tehran, YJC. Environment Unit has given a full report of its activities in the first 3 months of the year.

Hamidreza Kheildar, Commander of the Environement Unit of the Police Departmen, in interview with Fars news agency provided reports on the state of his units activities in the first 3 months of the year (Iranian calendar).

"In the first 3 months of the year 20,290 aquatic animals have been illegally caught. The number was 9,157 for the previous year,” he said.

Kheildar added "In the first three months 2,619 birds were illegally hunted.”

He also maintained that a total of 251 mammals were poached in the first quarter of the year, as compared to 136 for the previous year.

In the same period only 304 birds were meshed, Commander of the Police Department’s Environment Unit maintained.

Kheildar further pointed out "The sale and keeping of wildlife was one of the spheres where great difference is seen between the last and current year, so much so that in April, May, and June this year a total of 1,124 cases of keeping or selling were reported whereas the statistics for last year was 148.”
