Tehran, YJC. Head of the Expediency Discernment Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani says Iran’s foreign policy in the past few years isolated the country.

Hashemi who was speaking to the members of the International Affairs Think Tank of the Expediency Discernment Council’s International Department said "Foreign policy has rules. It is no place for mottos. One must not ruin opportunities instead of making use of them.”

He then compared Iran’s foreign polices during the previous administrations and said that a country’s economy thrives through relations with other counties.

Also pointing to terrorist movements in the Middle East he stat that when world powers made use of reactionary groups for their short-term goals, the threat turned back on them, so much so that the terrorists groups which burgeoned in the region are now a threat to everyone from Europe to the Americas.

He also provided comments on the ongoing developments in Ukraine and stated that if Russia and the US do not manage the situation wisely, the West will face many psychological security issues.
