Tehran, YJC. Larijani says with terrorist militants will not be removed with classical airstrikes.

Iran’s Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani speaking on Saturday said that extremist currents have invaded Syria and nearby lands.

"Now one has to ask if the Westerns did not know that as they support terrorist groups what would happen,” he stated, adding, "If they did not know, it is a pity and shows that these countries lack a proper management system. Of course Western countries, the U.S. in particular lack a proper understanding of Eastern issues, especially the region.”

He further said that if the Western countries knew what would happen in the wake of their support for terrorist groups, it proves that they tactically use such groups.

Why the U.S. has not been successful in fighting terrorism in Afghanistan or Pakistan is that it has made tactical use of terrorist groups, Larijani said.

"We were to witness that in the past years, the U.S. would support extremist and terrorist groups in order to wreak havoc on the Syrian government,” he noted.

The Majlis speaker added "On the other hand, we saw that Americans and Western countries would fake sleep amid the current regional crisis. Now they are following a hasty, opportunistic course of action to unite Western countries and Arabs to fight the terrorists. One has to see what the U.S. intends by forming the coalition and fighting the ISIL terrorist group.”

He added that the U.S. seems to intend to pressurize the Syrian government under the rubric of fighting ISIL.

He pointed out that the coalition will disarray the world’s power arrangement and stated that the member countries have to gain UN approval for their fight against ISIL, calling the U.S. action in forming the coalition "a catastrophe for the international system.”
