Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says Kiev has "something to hide" in relation to investigation of crimes in war-torn Ukraine.

Lavrov made the comments following a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday, Russia’s TASS news agency reported.

"The Ukrainian authorities are obviously not doing enough. We would not like to suspect someone, but there is an impression that they have something to hide,” Lavrov stated.

"All crimes committed during the Ukrainian crisis, including the tragedies in Odessa, Mariupol, the crash of the Malaysian Boeing, mass graves, should be investigated,” the Russian foreign minister said.

He went on to say that international organizations should show initiative and take more responsibility towards wrapping up the investigations.

Malaysian airlines flight MH17 crashed over Ukraine's volatile Donetsk region on July 17, while en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, and all of its 298 passengers and crew on board were killed.

Ukraine’s mainly Russian-speaking parts in the east have witnessed deadly clashes between pro-Moscow activists and the Ukrainian army since Kiev launched military operations to silence pro-Russians in mid-April.

Violence intensified in May after the Donetsk and Luhansk regions held local referendums, in which their residents voted overwhelmingly in favor of independence from Ukraine.
