Tehran, YJC. Emergency departments in Tabriz have started sending EMS technicians on motorbike to scenes to take care of patients.

Head of the East Azarbaijan Center for Accident Management and Emergency Medical Services Rajaee Ghafouri said "In order to prevent or at least reduce the damage that is caused by delay in EMS ambulances arriving at the scenes where the patients are, the Tabriz Motocycle EMS was launched to give service to the country’s north-west region.”

He added "Since heavy traffic makes it impossible for EMS vehicles to arrive at the scene quickly in the central parts of the city, the motorcycle service was made operational to remove the delay.”

He added that with the motorbike service, if the ambulance is late in arriving at the scene, male anaesthetic technicians and nurses are dispatched to the scene by motorbike in order to give the preliminary aids that the patient needs.

The motorbike unit is now operational at 4 EMS centers downtown Tabriz and they are expected to increase in number to cover the whole city’s EMS centers.
