Tehran, YJC. The total value of trade between Iran and Britain has grown by 36 percent this year, a Eurostat report says.
According to the Eurostat, the overall
value of commercial transactions between Iran and Britain reached over 133
million Euros in the period between January and October, this shows a 36
percent rise compared to the same period the previous year.
Britain exported 99.5 million Euros
worth of mercantile to Iran in the 10-month period while its exports to the
country in the same period in the previous year stood at 71.4 million Euros.
British imports from Iran also show a
28-percent growth, hitting 33.8 million Euros, the recently-released report
said.
Tehran-London relations grew dark three
years ago. On November 27, 2011, a large majority of Iranian lawmakers voted to
downgrade diplomatic relations with Britain, as a response to Britain's
decision to impose banking sanctions on the Central Bank of Iran.
Later on, a group of angry Iranian
students stormed the British embassy downtown Tehran and took the British flag
down.
Following the student attack, Britain withdrew its
diplomatic staff from Iran on November 30 and demanded that Iran’s diplomatic
delegation in London leave within 48 hours.
Iran and Britain agreed in over one year ago to appoint
non-resident chargé d’affaires as a first step toward reopening their
respective embassies.
