Tehran, YJC. The Majlis Speaker has said that the MPs are mulling over a motion to bound the Iranian government to limitless enrichment of uranium.

The motion will demand the enrichment of uranium to "any level it [the government] wishes” in case Western countries impose further sanctions on Iran over its nuclear energy program.

Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani On Thursday claimed that the Western countries, lead by the US, are not attempting to come up with a real solution to the longstanding dispute over Iran’s nuclear program, stressing that the Islamic Republic of Iran keeps a close watch on the Western negotiators’ behavior.

"A number of MPs are pursuing a motion according to which Iran would enrich uranium to any level it wishes if the Western states try to impose new sanctions against the country,” Larijani said.

The Majlis speaker further called on the 6 negotiators to seize the opportunity created by the ongoing nuclear talks and try to come up with a solution to the problem.

Larijani made the comments after reports said the incoming Republican US Congress members are considering a new sanctions bill against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has previously made it clear that any further US sanctions against the country could lead to a "halt” in the ongoing nuclear talks.
