TEHRAN, YJC. – Iran exported $1.4 billion of pistachio in the first ten months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2014- January 20, 2015), an 80 percent rise from $780 million in the same period last year.
The country exported 156,294 tons of pistachio in the ten-month period, showing 78 percent growth from 87,930 tons in the same period of time in the previous year, , the Mehr News Agency reported on Saturday.
Iran exported $5.2 billion of food and agricultural products and imported $13.2 billion of the products in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2014, according to the Iranian Customs Administration statistics.
Food and agricultural trade accounted for 20.2 percent of the country’s total non-oil trade in the past Iranian calendar year.
