An official of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said that the country would join ITER project.
Iran to join ITER, says AEOI official"Certain organizations could provide us with experiences, including ITER," said Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi.

ITER stands for International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, an international nuclear fusion research and engineering megaproject, which will be the world's largest magnetic confinement plasma physics experiment.

"Therefore, a decision on an agreement which could lift the cruel sanctions would provide a breathing space in the country's nuclear program, one example of which is the subject of ITER.  After signing the two documents, we hope that we can sign the final document and
join the international important project."

He also said that 1000 centrifuges are working in Iran at the moment, adding Iran is also capable of stockpiling 300 kilograms enriched uranium over 15 years.

Kamalvandi noted that Iran would turn out to be a powerful country in enriched fuel in future.

The Iranian official said that Iran has sold 70 tons of heavy water over 7 months and "We have changed the world market through this."
