Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif congratulated Christians around the world on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ (PBUH).
"Wishing a very Happy Christmas and peaceful 2017 to all. May the miracle birth of Jesus Christ bring peace to our troubled world,” Zarif said in a message posted on his Twitter account on Sunday.

 In a similar message on Saturday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also expressed the hope that with the arrival of the new Gregorian calendar year and in light of the teachings of the divine prophets, which are the main factors of dialogue and understanding among civilizations and nations, the world would witness stability and security and an end to the sufferings of the countless people plagued by oppression, corruption and terrorism.

The Iranian president also prayed God to bestow "health and happiness " on nations across the world and their governments.

Christmas or Christmas Day is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, celebrated generally on December 25 as a religious and cultural holiday by millions of people around the world.
