South African Minister of Energy Tina Joematt-Pettersson said her country is resolute to expand cooperation and investment in Iran’s petrochemical sector.

"Grounds have been provided for mutual energy cooperation,” she said in a meeting with Managing Director of Iran's National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marziyeh Shahdaie here in Tehran.
 
She expressed hope that talks between the two sides would bring meaningful achievements and could pave the way for further bilateral agreements during Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s upcoming visit to South Africa.
 
She also said South African Petro S A is ready for working with Iran in a new project.
 
Shahdaie, for her part, welcomed holding more negotiations to help South African companies’ investment in Iran and signing MoU between the two countries.
 
The two sides agreed to hold more sessions to prepare draft of a MoU on joint investment and transfer of technology on changing gas to liquid fuels.
