An Iranian nuclear official said that the UK broke its promise on implementing a MoU over buying 900 tons of yellow cake.
"We had a MoU with P5+1 whose last session was held and signed in Frankfort. However, the UK broke its promise in the last moments,” said Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali- Akbar Salehi.
He said Iran signed the MoU in Frankfort session attended by Moniz and P5+1, based on which Iran’s stockpile was supposed to be added by 900 tons in three years, however the MoU was failed to be implemented since the UK broke its promise.
He noted that Iranian Foreign Ministry is following up on the issue.
He added Iran is going to produce 40-50 tons of uranium in the next Iranian calendar year (starts on March 21, 2017).
Iran had imported 550 tons of uranium before the JCPOA, he said, adding the country had also produced 100 tons of the material when it started exploration and extraction process.
384 tons of yellow cake were added to Iran’s stockpile after the nuclear deal and in return for exporting enrichment services and selling heavy water, he added.
