Iran’s copper concentrate output rises by 36 percent

TEHRAN, March 16, YJC -Iran’s copper concentrate output rose by 36.5 percent in the first half of current Iranian calendar year (started on March 21, 2016), comparing to the same period in 2014.
Iran’s copper concentrate output rises by 36 percentTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Iran produced 389 tons of copper concentrate in the same period in 2014 and the amount totaled 531.000 tons in the first half of this year.

On Wednesday, Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh underlined that a consortium has been formed to take charge of zinc mining projects.
 
"A new zinc mining project in Iran has been recently awarded to a consortium of Iranian companies and is expected to enable the country to supply at least 4 percent of the world’s total demand for the strategic metal once completed within the next few years," Nematzadeh said.
 
He said that the project was awarded by the state-owned Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) to a consortium led by Mobin Mining and Construction Company.
 
Iran is one of the most important mineral producers in the world, ranked among 15 major mineral-rich countries, holding some 68 types of minerals, 37bln tons of proven reserves and more than 57bln tons of potential reserves.
 
The most important mines in Iran include coal, metallic minerals, sand and gravel, chemical minerals and salt.
