TEHRAN, July 22 - During negotiations Friday between the House and the Senate on defense authorization bills, Republicans weakened a provision placing harsh penalties on Chinese telecom giant ZTE, a company considered to be a national security threat to the United States.
China’s telecom giant ZTE is reportedly trying to reach a deal to plead guilty to US criminal charges and avoid a hefty fine over allegations that it dodged US sanctions in its previous Iran transactions.
