Tehran, YJC. Motahari has said that to disqualify Hashemi was an act in favor of the enemy and that Hashemi also was punished for his own past mistakes.
Ali Motahari In interview with Ghanoon newspaper said "Mr. Hashemi’s disqualification was to the detriment of the Revolution, pleasing the West and the Zionist, they would rather not see order in our country. In fact the silly friends and prudent enemies of the Revolution were made happy by it.”
He then criticized the qualification of some candidates such as Jalili and said "The Guardian Council qualified Mr. Jalili for Presidency despite [his] little experience. Can one who has served a number of years as a director in the Foreign Ministry and a number as the Secretary of the High Council on National Security and have done a few nuclear talks become President?”
"I believe that we must not allow radical candidates to win. The victory of Mr. Jalili will damage the country. But I have a recommendation for Mr. Jalili today, and that is that he should resign and not be a plaything for others,” Motahari asserted.
"Mr. Hashemi’s disqualification was a very abhorrent, cruel, and cowardly thing to do and we still object it and it must not be passed by easy, because it will cause a repressive atmosphere to override the country,” he continued.
He then stated "I believe, though, that Mr. Hashemi is to some extent getting the whip for his past actions. If he wouldn’t keep silent and defend the wronged when they would commit condemnable acts, this would not have been happening to him now; they would not have become so bold and rebellious.”
