TEHRAN, October 17 - Iran’s permanent envoy in UN says the US’s practicing permanent limitations against Iran not only is in contrast with JCPOA, but also violates the NPT members’ right.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In his speech in UN committee of disarmament and international security, Gholam Ali Khoshru said “the JCPOA is a valid international document, not a bilateral agreement that could be cancelled unilaterally”.

Khoshru referred to the US new policy about the JCPOA deal and asserted that Trump’s claim about Iran’s non-commitment to the deal is a baseless claim.

“From the very beginning implementing the deal from the US side was inadequate, and the current US administration violated the JCPOA spirit and text, cases of violation that Iran has registered them with JCPOA Joint Commission” he remarked.

Khoshr also highlighted the danger of the Isreali nuclear weapons still threatening global peace and security. He added that taking serious measures for nuclear disarmament in the Middle East crucial more than any time.

The Iranian envoy’s remarks came a few days after Trump refused to formally certify that Iran was complying with the deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and warned that he might ultimately terminate the agreement.

In refusing to certify the accord for a third time, Trump has passed the buck to Congress to decide whether to restore sanctions on Iran, which were lifted in exchange for Iran agreeing to limit its nuclear program.

At his White House speech on Friday, Trump also threatened that he would terminate the JCPOA if Congress and American allies failed to change the deal in significant ways.
