Iran says payment of UK debt has nothing to do with Zaghari’s case

TEHRAN, November 16 - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said paying British government’s debt to Iran has nothing to do with the case of Nazanin Zaghari.

He continued that Iran has had long-time discussions for vindication of certain rights of Iranian nation and these two issues are completely separated.

“The case of Mrs. Zaghari and paying the debt are two separate issues and have nothing to do with each other.”

He made the remarks after British Daily Telegraph claimed that Britain is mulling paying back 450 million pounds debt to Iran over a contract on selling Chieftain tanks to Iran which was not implemented after the Islamic Revolution and imposing weapon sanctions on Iran.
