Teehran, YJC, -- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, in a meeting with his French counterpart Laurent Fabius, called for the improvement of Iran-France relations.
"Improvement of relations between Iran and France on the basis of mutual respect guarantees the two countries’ common interests,” Zarif said.

Iran’s Foreign Minister now is in France to attend the 37th Session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Iran’s foreign minister has been invited to the conference by UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova to attend the Leaders Forum, which will be discussing the long-term strategic policies of the UN agency for the upcoming years.

The 37th Session of the General Conference of UNESCO will open in Paris on November 5, and will conclude its work on November 20. The session brings together the representatives of all UNESCO member states every two years at the organization’s headquarters in Paris.

After wrapping up his visit to Paris, Zarif will head to Geneva, Switzerland, where the next round of the negotiations between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the United States, China, Russia, France and Britain - plus Germany will be held on November 7-8.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif (pictured) told FRANCE 24 Tuesday that an agreement with the international community over the country’s nuclear programme could be reached at talks in Geneva later this week.
