Tehran, YJC. Members of the Majlis have raised voice against the US Department of State for a new statement demanding the release of Iranian opposition leaders.

Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Majlis Alaeddin Boroujerdi condemned the US Department of State’s recent statement urging the release of Mirhossin Mousavi, Mehdi Karoubi and Zahra Rahnavard.

Calling the statement "interventional” he said "This is a domestic issue and the US has no right to interfere with the affairs of Iran.”

Also lawmaker Hossein Naqavi Hosseini in reaction to the statement which is published on the Department of State website under the name of Deputy Spokesperson Marie Harf said "From the viewpoint of the Iranian nation the sedition leaders are criminals and must be tried according to the law. The US is in no position to interfere with the country’s internal affairs and to give orders on Iranian concerns. That goes against international regulations.”

On February 14, the Department of State of the US issued an announcement on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the arrest of 3 Iranian opposition figures, calling for the Iranian ruling power to end their detention.

Amnesty International has in a similar action made the same request.
