Tehran, YJC. The restraint of sanctions on European companies has given a good chance to African countries to buy Iran’s petrochemicals.
Iran’s National Petrochemicals Company which used to see China, India, Southeast Asian, and far eastern countries as its main customers is now surprised to find African countries in line.
In previous years countries such as China, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Iraq, and to lesser degrees Armenia, Malaysia, and a number of other Asian countries used to buy some types of Iran’s petrochemicals including urea and ammonia.
Last year not only a number of other Asian countries, but some African countries such as Mozambique and Tanzania were also buying these products from Iran.
Khorasan petrochemicals Marketing Manager Ali Asghar Khazaei in interview with Mehr News Agency stated that roughly 220 thousand tons of urea has been exported to India, Turkey, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Malaysia, and Pakistan.
"Beside neighbor and Asian countries, the factory’s urea is also being exported to Africa’s Tanzania and a number of European countries,” he stated.
Khazaei added that the company has also exported melamine to some African countries.
Meanwhile Bahman Zamani, CEO of Pardis Petrochemicals has
said that some South American and African countries will be joining Iran’s
petrochemicals customers.
