TEHRAN, Jun 10 - Criticizing Europeans for not adhering to Iran nuclear deal, Iranian FM Spokesman asserted that If the European party did not fulfill Iran’s expectations of the deal after the determined 2-month deadline, Iran would take its second step resolutely.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In his weekly press conference on Monday Iran’s FM Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi stressed that Iran wants nothing beyond commitment to Iran nuclear deal known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and that all parties must fulfill their commitments to the deal.

He pointed out to Germany FM Heiko Mass’ trip to Iran for discussing INSTEX, saying that the mechanism also did not fulfill the Iranian side’s expectation from JCPOA.

The top diplomat referred to the US’s unilateral exit from Iran’s international nuclear deal and intense sanctions against the Iranian nation, and noted that Trump’s administration was not in a position to determine anything for Iran.

“What is important for Iran is a basis called JCPOA, which apart from the United States, Europeans and other countries must fulfill their obligations to it” Mousavi added.

Japan’s Premier trip to Iran
With regard to Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo’s trip to Iran also Mouasavi said “Mr. Abe’s trip to Iran is of an important, historical, and exclusive one, which a Japanese official does it at the level of president. Japan is an important country of Eastern Asia and Iran is a powerful country of Western Asia, therefore the trip has attracted attentions”.

He added that Iran and Japan both have concerns about regional and international issues and that the visit would aim at deepening bilateral ties as well as addressing international issues of utmost urgency.

S-400 purchase
Iran has already neither had any request for purchasing Russian S-400 missile system nor it needs it yet, the Iranian Spokesman said, noting that Iranian scientist have designed defense systems which compete them.

Iran’s permanent membership in SCO
Also addressing Iran’s permanent membership in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Mousavi said “SCO is an important regional organization where Iran prefers to be present, and now is present as an observer member, due to the importance it attaches to the region and multilateralism”.

Iran’s permanent membership in SCO, he added, requires technical actions which are currently being carried out.
