TEHRAN, Jun 22 - Britain's Middle East Minister Andrew Murrison will visit Iran tomorrow for "frank and constructive" talks, London said.

British minister to visit Iran SundayTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - "At this time of increased regional tensions and at a crucial period for the future of the nuclear deal, this visit is an opportunity for further open, frank and constructive engagement with the government of Iran," the Foreign Office said in a statement, according to Reuters.

It added that Murrison would call for urgent de-escalation in the region and raise concerns about Iran's “threat to cease complying with the nuclear deal to which the UK remains fully committed."

On May 8, 2018, US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the JCPOA, a 159-page nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) came into force in January 2016.

Following the US withdrawal, Iran and the remaining parties launched talks to save the accord.

However, the EU’s failure to ensure Iran’s economic interests forced Tehran to stop honoring certain commitments under JCPOA on May 8, 2019.

Iran has also set a 60-day deadline for the remaining JCPOA parties to fulfill their undertakings.
