The Iranian National Tanker Company says Iran is resuming its presence in European oil ports.
The company’s Director General Ali Akbar Safaee in interview
with Mehr News Agency said "Iranian tankers are of high safety standards as
well as standards needed to carry oil and liquid gas.”
Prior to international sanctions on Iran’s tanker company, a
large part of the country’s tankers used to frequent European countries.
The Iranian National Tanker Company used to work in contract
with giant oil companies such as France’s Total, UK’s Shell, Norway’s Statoil,
Italy’s Eni, and other well-known companies.
As the EU’s General Court and HM Treasury lifted sanctions
they had imposed on Iran, the Iranian company could take a fresh breath and
resume to its old partners in Europe.
Safaee said that prior to the intensification of
international sanctions, around 70 percent of Iran’s tankers would be sued in
international markets, EU included.
Stressing that the Iranian fleet is one of the most powerful
ones to convey oil and gas in the whole world, he said "One of the concerns of
European countries in procuring energy is to carry oil and products by a
trustworthy fleet with high quality and environment-friendly standards.”
He noted that the Iranian tankers enjoy the entire standards
currently required by global markets, adding "In case general sanctions are
lifted, especially by the US Treasury, Iranian tankers would be able to resume
international markets.”
