Tehrna, YJC. Head of Iran’s Judiciary Sadeq Amoli Larijani said that a request to give Iran’s Justice Ministry new privileges has been rejected.

Larijani said that the request which had been made by the Majlis is not acceptable.

"The Judiciary needs support from the Majlis, government, and other state organizations. We do not expect a bill to be passed by the Majlis which goes against the law or Sharia,” he asserted.

He pointed out that the issue of enhancing the authority of the Justice Ministry has been brought up in the previous year as well, but has been rejected based on different discourses and expressed surprised that despite a clear rule by the Guardian Council, some and again talk is made which brings the issue forth.

"I had previously seen the proposed initiative and I would not agree with it on religious and legal grounds. But it is a right with the Majlis to bring up a bill and vote on it, which is respectable to me,” he said.

He also rejected arguments that with the newly proposed authorities which included the disenfranchisement of some Judiciary sub-departments as a way to reduce crime rate.
