Tehran, YJC. Zarif stressed joint work in standing against the Western sanctions in a Saturday meeting with his Belarusian counterpart.

Highlighting the progress of all-out relations between the two countries, Mohammad Javad Zarif stated that Iranian private companies have expressed eager to cooperate in Belarus’ economic projects.

Denouncing as unfair the Western sanctions against both countries, the Iranian diplomat said, "We should not allow the West to use sanctions as a means by which to exert pressure on other countries. The countries under unfair and unlawful sanctions have to rely on their own resources and cooperate with one another as a way to succeed.”

He also stressed the Islamc Republic of Iran’s intention in tackling its nuclear issue, reminding his Belarusian counterpart that the sanctions are in violation of the international law and would never count as any honorable achievement for the countries imposing them.

"Once the West comes realizes that sanctions will get them nowhere, the nuclear negotiations with the P5+1 will be start to bear fruit,” he stated.

Speaking elsewhere, the top Iranian diplomat condemned the instrumental use of human rights which has been used against the Iranian ruling power, adding, "The Western countries distinguish between Iraq and Syria in their fight against Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). This shows that the issue of human rights is nothing to them but an instrument.”
