Iran says nuclear deal possible by today’s end

Iranian nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi has said that the ongoing nuclear talks are likely to end in some agreement.

I think that we might be able to reach a conclusion by the end of the given time, Araqchi told Iranian midday news program on Wednesday, adding "In a lot of issues we have reached solutions and good progress has been made.”

Chinese Foreign Minister Want Yi said late Tuesday that the ongoing talks on Iran’s nuclear program have been positive and progressive.

He made the remarks as Iran and the P5+1, the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany, are in Lausanne, Switzerland, talking a way over Iran’s nuclear program.

The six world powers and Iran met again on Wednesday in a bid to reach a preliminary accord on reining in Tehran's nuclear program, after failing to agree crucial details such as the lifting of U.N. sanctions by a midnight deadline.

Meanwhile, Laurent Fabius, French FM, also said that great gains have been made during the negotiations.

The Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif speaking late Tuesday hoped that 5+1 members who were going to reconvene early Wednesday would start writing a draft agreement soon.

Back at their countries, US President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin held emergency security talks.
