TEHRAN, YJC. -- Leader of the Russian Liberal Democratic Party and its State Duma faction Vladimir Zhirinovsky insists on closing every non-governmental organization (NGO) connected to foreign countries.
Russia has problems with western NGOs, specially they belong to Britain.

The country's authorities are raiding non-governmental organizations to make sure they comply with a law intended to stem foreign meddling in Russian politics, President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.

Russia’s rights ombudsman, Vladimir Lukin, asked Putin about the raids, saying they have been conducted for no apparent reason.

in this regards crackdown of NGOs have drawn widespread western countries criticism.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called for Russia to give a chance to non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

She spoke during a visit to Germany by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has backed a series of investigations into foreign-funded NGOs.

In an interview on German television, President Putin said Russians had a right to know which NGOs were receiving foreign funds "and for what".

Russia passed a law last year requiring all NGOs that receive overseas funding to register as "foreign agents".

It was one of several controversial laws adopted in the aftermath of pro-democracy protests in Moscow.
