TEHRAN, July 13, YJC - Iran and Vietnam are going to hold the 9th joint economic commission meeting in Tehran on July 15-16.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad-Reza Nemat-Zadeh and Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat are taking part in the event.
The two sides plan to discuss bilateral cooperation in trade, customs, agriculture, fishery, holding exhibitions and transportation.
Iranian and Vietnamese central banks, trade promotion organizations and ministries of agriculture and fisheries organizations are expected to sign MoU separately on the sidelines of the commission.
The two countries are going to sign a MoU in the commission meeting as well.
Earlier, In March 2016, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Tehran and Hanoi have agreed to raise the volume of their trade exchanges to $2bln in the next five years.
"The two countries enjoy very good potentialities that can be developed after the removal of sanctions against the Islamic Republic. We have decided to increase the level of trade transactions, which currently stands at $350mln to $2bln in the next five years,” Rouhani said in a press conference with his visiting Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang in Tehran.
"We also decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Central Bank of Iran and Vietnam's Central Bank as the first step to boost cooperation," he added.
Rouhani said Iran and Vietnam are set to forge closer cooperation in the fight against terrorism, adding that the two governments have emphasized the need to closely work together to counter terrorist groups and help settle regional issues in places like Syria and Yemen.
The Vietnamese president, for his part, said regional peace and stability is at risk, calling on the international community to try to promote peace.
He said conflicts should be resolved peacefully and in accordance with international law.
Sang also invited the Iranian president to pay a visit to Vietnam.
Rouhani said they also discussed ways to further develop bilateral relations in economy, energy, culture, industry, agriculture, tourism, investment, and IT.
Tan Sang, for his part, underscored that the two countries' priority is economic and trade cooperation, adding that the two sides agreed to seek help from the private sector.
