TEHRAN, November 24 - Iran has opened 17th International Home Appliance Exhibition in a ceremony attended by Minister of Industry, Trade and Mine Mohammad Shariat-Madari.

Iran holding int’l home appliance expoTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - 137 companies from 21 countries as well as Iran are displaying their newest products and expertise in the expo opened on Thursday.

China, Russia, Turkey, US, Italy, Germany, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland, Czech, Spain, Netherlands, Spain, France and Switzerland are attending the exhibition.

Some foreign trade delegations are going to hold talks with Iranian home appliance producers on the sidelines of the exhibition.

The exhibition mainly seeks introducing Iranian home appliance industry, presenting innovations, expanding internal market and exports, developing production level and creating an atmosphere for research and evaluation on home appliance industry by industrialists and exports and paving the way for foreign investment in Iran.

Iranian Home Appliance Association Secretary General Habibollah Ansari said Iranian home appliances are able to compete with products from China, South Korea, Brazil, Turkey and the US with some products are even 50 percent cheaper comparing to foreign models.

He said Iran is exporting evaporative cooler, gas heater, storage water heater, oven, sewing machine and washing machine to other countries worth $300 million annually.

The event would close on November 26.
