Tehran, YJC. Iran’s Foreign Minister says that the country is not ready for negotiations when they are done for the sake of negotiation only.

One day after his two busy weeks in New York as Iran’s ambassador of negotiation and cooperation, the Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif appeared on the national TV to give an account of his exertions to Iranians.

"We clarified our view in New York,” said Zarif, "We believe that the negotiations are to be held at the level of foreign ministers, but negotiations about the level of negotiations still go on. We will attend the talks the same way the other side does, of course me and Mrs. Ashton will be present.”

He then pointed to Ashton saying that the Six Majors have presented their proposal beforehand and added "We have said that that proposal belongs to history and they must come forward with a new outlook.”

He asserted "Surely it is easy to shout mottos and not negotiate. I know that a heavy burden is on my shoulders. I know how difficult it is and I know that we cannot trust the countries which have not had a proper behavior toward Iran so far.”

Pointing to his meeting with the US Secretary of State Zarif said "This was not the  first meeting between Iranian and American officials, because before that, Jalili had met William Burns. Anyway it was the first meeting with the US Secretary of State about lack of trust which he also agreed to.”

The Foreign Minister further said "In fact it was his way of saying that the US government is committed to follow the case. He wanted to assure us that they are for real and want to reach a conclusion in a short time.”
