Tehran, YJC. FM Spokeswoman has said Iran would rather engage in mutual cooperation with Arab states.
Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham blasted statements made at the 130th conference of the foreign ministers of the Cooperation Councilfor the Arab States of theGulf laying claim on 3 Iranian islands.
Afkham asserted that the three islands of Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs have belonged to Iran and will continue to do so, calling the Arab claims cliché.
The spokeswoman also rejected accusations of Iran interfering in the affairs of Bahrain.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran’s main policy on neighbor countries is concerned with good neighborliness, mutual respect, and avoiding interference with the domestic affairs of other countries. The Cooperation Council’s claim in relating the Bahrain crisis to others is indicative of the Bahraini statesmen’s confused ideas about the people’s rightful demands and is aimed at diverging the public mind from the realities going on inside the country.”
"Under current circumstances, if the Cooperation Council considers constructive, sensible, and caring approaches to internal affairs and foreign relations, it will gain better results in solving the member states’ problems as well as in terms of foreign relations. The Islamic Republic of Iran also is ready to render all sorts of constructive cooperation and to boost cooperation as based on mutual goodwill.”
