Tehran, YJC. IRGC Aerospace Commander Haji Zadeh says Iran’s military has improved from when it had to buy weapons from Libya to the present when it builds missile factories in Syria.

Pointing to Iran’s efforts in the beginning of its missile production to make missiles with 1000 km range he said "We diverse engineered Shahab 1 from Squad B missiles. In two years, we made Shahab 2 with 500 km of range.”

In those days, we had to stretch the industry section. Our first "Israel-hitting” missile had no more than 1000 range and we would have had to take the launcher to Guilan Gharb in order to make it reach the target, he said.

Then a request was made to build a missile with 2000 km of range. It was then that we started the Ashoura project, Haji Zadeh maintained.

"Then the Supreme Leader wanted us to make the missiles prices, something which he had noted earlier than that.”

The IRGC Aerospace commander stressed that Iran supports the Syrian resistance and added "A country such as Syria which used to sell us arms, was later on to buy our missiles. Right now the missile manufacturing firms in Syria are built by Iran.”
