US sent 6 Guantanamo prisoners to Uruguay

US says it has sent 6 Guantanamo Bay prisoners to Uruguay to be resettled as refugees AP reported.
Earlier in a separate development US officials had said that 5 Guantanamo inmates sent to Georgia, Slovakia.

All these efforts are in the line with US president Barack obama's efforts to close guantanamo bay prison in Cuba, but Commander of US military prison at Guantanamo Bay says on Obama's goal of closing the prison by 2016: 'I think that's an unrealistic hope' .

In this regards the U.S. general who opened the Guantanamo detention camp said Thursday it was a mistake and should be shut down because "it validates every negative perception of the United States."

"In retrospect, the entire detention and interrogation strategy was wrong," Marine Major General Michael Lehnert wrote in a column published in the Detroit Free Press.
