Tehran, YJC. Iranian official says the Iranian gas company has hit new record in gas production.
Managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC)
Hamid Reza Araqi said that Iran’s production of natural gas in the past 11
months into the current year has been unprecedented in the history of the
country.
"The record has been unprecedented for Iran in increasing its
natural gas production by 100 million cubic meters a day within a year,” he
told an economic forum in Tehran.
This, Araqi said, is the result of efforts undertaken by the
Rouhani administration offiicals.
Iran’s current production of natural gas stands at 600 million
cubic meters a day and its consumption of gas products is about 500.
Pointing to a rise in gas consumption, the official said
that growth in consumption is not good.
He also noted that the country needs proper planning to
maximize the efficiency of natural gas consumption in the country.
A major share of Iran's gas production comes from the energy
hub of South Pars. Located in Persian
Gulf waters, South Pars holds hold an estimated reserve of 51 trillion cubic
meters of in-situ natural gas and some 50 billion barrels of condensates.
